LAKE HOOD CLASSIC BOAT REGATTA 2011
The Lake Hood Classic Boat Regatta was held on 20 March 2011. This was the second event held by the Ashburton Sailing Club. The numbers  were down a bit from last year which  was due mainly to the earthquake in the Canterbury region. The day was in wet Christchurch which also stopped potential boaties who indicated they were coming. Nevertheless our fair town of Ashburton provided a day without rain, although we had some light drizzle that lasted about 20 minutes, and then a light breeze for the sail boats.

Like last year the lake was closed to the public until 1pm, so all the motor powered craft, and row boats could give demonstration runs for the public, then after lunch, the sail boats had their sail. Something we did differently this year was to have a free day on Saturday, for our visitors to use our Lake at will, and we would put a race on for those who would like one, which we did.
